UPSC Notification 2023: 1105 Vacancies; Apply Now!
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has uploaded the notification and activated the online application for Civil Service Exam (CSE) 2023 at upsc.gov.in.
Graduates can submit their UPSC CSE Application Form on or before 21 Feb 2023 on UPSC Online Website – upsconline.nic.in.
It is essential for the applicant to register himself/herself first at One Time Registration(OTR), and then proceed for filling up the online application for the examination. The Link For OTR Registration is

This year, the commission is filling up 1105 vacancies which include 37 vacancies for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category, 15 Vacancies for locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy; and 10 Vacancies for multiple disabilities from amongst persons.
Candidates who would apply for UPSC IAS 2023 Recruitment will be called to appear for CSE Prelims Exam which is scheduled to be held on 28 May 2023 (Sunday).
UPSC Civil Service Exam will be conducted at various designated venues in the country.
Application Fee
The candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only).
SC/ST/ Female/Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates are exempted from payment of the fee.
The fees can be paid either by depositing the money in any branch of State Bank of India by cash, by using the net banking facility of State Bank of India, or by using any Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card.
Upper Age Limit
If your age limit is between 21-32 years (General Category) as of August 1, 2023, you can apply for the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2023.
The upper age limit for OBC candidates is 35 years, while that of SC/ST candidates is 37 years.
UPSC Syllabus – Civil Services Preliminary Exam
The Civil Services Preliminary exam comprises two compulsory papers of 200 marks each (General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper-II). The questions will be of multiple-choice, objective type. The marks in prelims will not be counted for final ranking, but just for qualification for the main exam.
The Commission will draw a list of candidates to be qualified for Civil Service (Main) Examination based on the criterion of minimum qualifying marks of 33% in General Studies PaperII of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination and total qualifying marks of General Studies Paper-I of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination as may be determined by the Commission.
UPSC syllabus for paper I – (200 marks) duration: two hours (counted for the merit rank in the prelims)
- Current events of national and international importance.
- History of India and Indian National Movement.
- Indian and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
- Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
- Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
- General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization.
- General Science.
UPSC syllabus for paper-II- (200 marks) duration: two hours (not counted for the merit rank in prelims but a Qualifying Paper; you just need 33% marks)
